After 5 years of banger racing I decided in September 1977 to restore a car instead of smashing them up and I bought the 1968 MGC GT but found it was in poor condition. So over the next 3 years we set about stripping it down and restoring back to concourse condition. It was finished in August 1980 and over the next 16 years it was a very successful show car winning many awards and appearing in classic car shows and featured in many car magazines. In 1996 I sold the car to a German headmaster for cash and his wife drove it back to north Germany just over 1100 Km.
Some MGC facts
The MGC was based on the MGB, and was intended as a replacement for the Austin-Healey 3000 which, by the time the MGC was announced in 1967, had had its day. Powered by an in-line, six-cylinder, pushrod, OHV engine of 2912cc capacity that was capable of developing 150bhp. It was only manufactured for two years 1967 to 1969, when 4544 Roadsters and 4458 GT were built.
